Hopefully in this section we will be able to answer some frequently asked questions.

Highways/Street Lighting

Contact Durham County Council Highways Action Line (HAL) on 0191 370 6000 or
e-mail hal@durham.gov.uk

A tree on the grass verge outside my house is leaning over and may be dangerous. Who will do something about it?

It depends on who owns or who is responsible for the land on which the tree is growing.

If it is on village green land in Shincliffe Village, inform the Parish Council.

If it closely borders a public highway, contact HAL on 0191 370 6000.

For a tree on other land you will need to discuss the problem with the land owner or tenant.
